Piedad C. Barillas-Bird graduated from The New York College of Health Professions with her Masters in Science and License in Acupuncture. Further continuing her education with 6 years of Post-Graduate study of Five Element Acupuncture & Pulse Diagnosis with Lonny S. Jarrett.
In Conjunction with her studies she continued developing her skills in Japanese Acupuncture and Meridian Therapy learning from Master Acupuncturists: Peter Yates, Yuriko Yamagishi, Shudo Denmei through the works of Stephen Brown, Kiiko Matsumoto, and Junji Mitsutani.
Undergraduate education at Quinnipiac University, Connecticut – Pie received her Bachelors in Psychology with an emphasis on Morality development and Psychoneuroimmunology. This further launched her into her Internship at Yale University collaborating in an attempt to measure Spirituality.
Originally from New York, USA – Piedad, has moved to New Zealand to pioneer an integrated approach to merge evolutionary thought, theory and practice of this healing art. This is a new approach understanding the evolution of energy medicine.
Having taught at The New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine in Christchurch the vision to bring advanced teachings in this field in a more intense post-graduate program across the country is one of several projects in the Life of Pie.
Brendan Bird, graduated from The New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine, Christchurch in 2008 with his diploma in Acupuncture. He furthered his education by receiving his Bachelors in Acupuncture in 2010. Prior to his Acupuncture studies, Brendan graduated from Southern Institute of Technology, Invercargill in 2004 with a Bachelors in Therapeutic Sports Massage and Neuromuscular Technique.
Brendan focuses on educating his patients on how to better themselves and take care of themselves. Preventative/Functional Medicine is a key component in his practice. A keen outdoorsman he can be found surfing, hunting or navigating the Bush of local Kaikoura.
